Understanding inodes

An inode is simply a count of individual files and folders on your hosting. Every file, email, cache item and folder uses one inode - regardless of its size. Most hosting plans have an inode limit alongside the disk space limit, so it is possible to hit the file-count limit even with space to spare.

You can see your file count in the panel's resource statistics. If you are close to the limit, uploads and email delivery can start to fail, so it is worth a periodic clean-up.
