Moving and copying files between folders
Reorganising your site's files is straightforward with the DirhamHost File Manager.
To move a file:
- Open File Manager and find the file.
- Right-click it and choose Move (or tick it and click Move in the toolbar).
- Type the destination path, e.g.
/public_html/archive, and confirm.
To copy instead, choose Copy - this leaves the original in place. You can also drag and drop items onto a folder in the left-hand tree.
Handling many files:
- Tick several files (or use Select All) to move them together.
- For a very large batch, an FTP client like FileZilla is faster and more reliable.
- To relocate a whole website into a subfolder, move the files then update any hard-coded paths and, for WordPress, the site URL.
Remember that moving a file changes its web address - a file moved out of public_html is no longer publicly reachable, and links to a moved page will break unless you set up a redirect. If you move something by mistake, move it back or restore from backup. Need to restructure a big site safely? Our team can advise - WhatsApp +971 58 553 6767.
