Database size and limits
A common question is how large a database can grow on Dirham A Day hosting. In practice your databases share your account's overall disk space - there is no separate hard cap on a single database, but the total of your files, emails and databases must fit within your plan's storage.
Good practice for keeping databases healthy:
- Watch bloat: WordPress sites accumulate post revisions, spam comments and transient data. Plugins like WP-Optimize clean these up.
- Trim logs: some plugins log every action. Clear old log tables periodically.
- Archive old data: for shops with years of orders, export and archive very old records.
- Optimise tables: in phpMyAdmin, select all tables and choose Optimize table to reclaim space.
Very large databases (several GB) can slow down page loads and backups. If your site is growing fast, a plan with more resources or a VPS may serve you better. You can check your current database sizes in phpMyAdmin - the size is shown next to each database on the home screen. If you are approaching your storage limit, we will notify you; you can also upgrade any time from the client area. Questions on limits? Contact support@dirhamaday.ae.
