What is SNI?

SNI (Server Name Indication) is a standard part of how modern HTTPS works. It lets a single server host many different SSL certificates on one IP address, and present the correct certificate for whichever domain a visitor requested.

Before SNI, each secured site effectively needed its own dedicated IP. SNI removed that limit: when a browser connects, it tells the server the host name it wants before the secure handshake completes, so the server can serve the right certificate.

What this means for you as a Dirham A Day customer:

• You can host multiple secured domains in one account without buying dedicated IPs.
• Our automatic SSL uses SNI, so every domain and addon domain gets its own certificate on shared infrastructure.

SNI is supported by every modern browser and operating system, so your visitors do not need to do anything. The only devices that struggle are very old ones (for example extremely outdated browsers) that almost no one uses today.
