SSL & HTTPS

What is ACME?

ACME (Automated Certificate Management Environment) is the protocol that makes free, automatic SSL possible. It is the behind-the-scenes system Let's Encrypt uses to verify domain ownership and issue certificates without any manual paperwork.

Here is the idea in simple terms. When our DirhamHost system needs a certificate for your domain, it speaks ACME to Let's Encrypt:

  1. It requests a certificate for your domain.
  2. Let's Encrypt issues a challenge to prove you control the domain, usually by asking for a specific temporary file to appear on your site (HTTP validation) or a DNS record.
  3. Our system places that file automatically, Let's Encrypt checks it, and the certificate is issued.
  4. The same automation runs again before expiry to renew.

The whole point of ACME is that no human has to copy keys or fill in forms. It is why your certificate "just appears" and keeps renewing on its own.

As a customer, you never interact with ACME directly; it is fully managed for you. The only thing that can interrupt it is your domain not pointing to our servers, which blocks the challenge. If that happens, correct your DNS and re-run AutoSSL, or contact WhatsApp +971 58 553 6767 or support@dirhamaday.ae.
