SSL & HTTPS

What is a multi-domain (SAN) certificate?

A multi-domain certificate, also called a SAN (Subject Alternative Name) certificate, secures several different domain names on a single certificate, for example yourdomain.ae, yourbrand.com and anotherstore.ae together.

With Dirham A Day you rarely need to buy one, because our AutoSSL system already issues a separate free certificate for each domain and addon domain on your account automatically. That achieves the same practical result: every site is secured, and each renews on its own.

A purchased SAN certificate can still make sense if you have a specific requirement to list multiple business domains under one organisation-validated certificate, for example for a compliance or partner requirement.

To use one:

  1. Generate a CSR that includes all the domains you want (via the SSL/TLS tool in the panel at my.dirhamaday.ae).
  2. Buy the SAN certificate from a provider and complete validation for each name.
  3. Install the issued certificate and CA bundle through Install an SSL Certificate.

Remember purchased certificates do not auto-renew. For most customers, sticking with the automatic per-domain free certificates is simpler and cost-free. Questions? Ask us on WhatsApp +971 58 553 6767 or support@dirhamaday.ae.
