Restoring to an earlier point in time
Sometimes a problem is not noticed straight away. A change made days ago might have quietly broken something, or corrupted data may only come to light later. Because DirhamVault keeps a history of backups, you are not limited to your most recent copy - you can restore to an earlier point in time, before the problem began.
Each backup in your history is a restore point - a specific date and time you can return to. To restore to an earlier one:
- Log in to the DirhamHost panel and open DirhamVault.
- Review the list of available restore points - each is a date and time.
- Choose the point from before the problem started (not just the newest backup, which may already contain it).
- Restore the whole account, or just the affected file, folder, database or mailbox.
This is why keeping a history matters: if you only ever had last night's backup, and the fault crept in a week ago, that backup would already be broken. A range of restore points lets you step back to a genuinely good version.
A word of care: restoring to an earlier point means changes made after it will not be present. On a busy site, weigh up what you would lose - and where possible, use a granular restore (just the corrupted database, say) so you keep recent changes elsewhere.
Remember that restore points drop off as they age past the retention window; if you need to preserve a particular moment, download that backup. If choosing the right point feels tricky, our UAE-based team can help - support@dirhamaday.ae.
