Migrating using a backup

A backup is not only for recovering from problems - it can also be a convenient way to move a website, whether onto Dirham A Day, between accounts, or to hand a complete copy to a developer.

Because DirhamVault lets you take and download a full account backup, you have a complete, portable snapshot of your site - files, databases and email together - that can be restored elsewhere.

Moving onto Dirham A Day: in most cases you do not need to do this yourself at all. Our free migration service handles the move for you using our built-in importers, and we can bring your site across with little or no downtime. If you already have a backup from your old host (for example a cPanel-format backup), that can make the process even smoother - just let us know you have one.

Using a DirhamVault backup to move a site:

1. In the DirhamHost panel, open DirhamVault and take a fresh full account backup.
2. Download the backup archive.
3. Restore or import it into the destination - or hand it to whoever is carrying out the move.

A few tips:

• Take the backup at a quiet time so it captures a consistent, up-to-date copy.
• Keep the downloaded archive secure, as it contains all your data.
• After moving, test the site thoroughly before switching over live traffic.
