Migrating email from an old host
When moving your hosting to Dirham A Day, you will usually want to bring existing mailboxes and their messages across. The reliable method is an IMAP-to-IMAP transfer.
Step 1 - Recreate mailboxes: in the DirhamHost panel, create each email account with the same address as on the old host.
Step 2 - Copy the mail:
- In a client like Thunderbird, add both the old and new accounts via IMAP.
- Drag folders and messages from the old account into the new one - they upload to our server.
Alternatively, some panels include an Email Import / Migration tool where you enter the old server's IMAP details and it copies everything automatically.
Step 3 - Switch mail delivery: update your domain's MX records to point to Dirham A Day. Until DNS fully updates, mail may arrive at either host, so keep both live during the changeover.
Then set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC, and reconfigure devices with the new server settings (mail.yourdomain.ae, IMAP 993, SMTP 465/587). Do not delete the old account until you have verified all mail transferred and new mail is arriving on our servers.
