Managing mailbox quota and storage
Each mailbox can have a storage quota - the maximum space its messages may use. Because plans include unlimited mailboxes, sensible quotas stop one account from consuming all your disk space.
To set or change a quota:
- Open the DirhamHost panel and go to Email Accounts.
- Find the mailbox and click Manage.
- Set the storage to a fixed size (e.g. 2 GB) or Unlimited, then save.
When a mailbox is full, new mail bounces back to senders, so it is worth monitoring. To free up space in a mailbox:
- Empty the Trash and Junk folders.
- Delete or archive large attachments and old newsletters.
- In Omnio webmail, sort by size to find the biggest messages.
Remember that mailbox storage counts towards your overall account disk usage. If several mailboxes are large, either raise your plan's storage or archive old mail locally. For staff who need to keep everything, consider a generous quota plus periodic archiving to a local PST or Mbox file. If a mailbox is bouncing mail because it is full, clear space quickly or increase the quota. Need help sizing quotas across your team? Contact support@dirhamaday.ae.
