IMAP vs POP: which to choose

When adding your Dirham A Day mailbox to a device, you choose between IMAP and POP3. The difference matters.

IMAP (recommended) keeps your mail on the server and syncs it to every device. Read a message on your phone and it shows as read on your laptop and webmail too. Ideal for anyone using more than one device.

POP3 downloads mail to a single device and (by default) removes it from the server. Fine only if you use one computer and want messages stored locally, but you lose sync and risk losing mail if that device fails.

Server settings:

For virtually all businesses we recommend IMAP. It keeps everyone in sync and your mail safely on our servers, which are also backed up. If you must use POP3, enable the option to leave a copy on the server so mail is not deleted after download. Unsure which is set up? We can check - WhatsApp +971 58 553 6767.
