How long are backups kept? (retention)

DirhamVault keeps a rolling history of backups so you can restore not just from your most recent copy, but from earlier points in time too. How far back that history goes is called the retention period.

New backups are taken automatically on a schedule, and older ones are kept for the retention period before being rotated out to make room for newer copies. This gives you a useful window of restore points - so if a problem was not noticed immediately (for example a change that quietly broke something days ago), you can still roll back to before it happened.

To see exactly what you can restore to right now:

1. Log in to the DirhamHost panel.
2. Open the DirhamVault backup section.
3. Review the list of available restore points - each one is a date and time you can return to.

A couple of practical points:

• Because retention is a rolling window, the oldest restore points gradually drop off over time. If you need to preserve a particular moment beyond the retention window - say, before a major site relaunch - download that backup and keep your own copy.
• Retention length can vary by plan. Your available restore points in the panel are always the authoritative guide to what you can restore.
