CPU, RAM and process limits explained

DirhamGuard controls a few key resources for each account. Here is what each one means in plain English.

• CPU - the "thinking" power of the server. Every time your site runs code (loading a WordPress page, processing an order), it uses CPU. Your limit is a share of the server's processing cores, shown as a percentage.
• RAM (memory) - the short-term working space your site uses while it handles a request. Heavier pages and larger applications need more memory to complete a task.
• Entry processes - the number of requests your site can actively process at the exact same instant. Think of them as checkout tills: more tills serve more customers at once.
• Number of processes - the total background and active tasks your account may run, including things like cron jobs and email tasks.

These limits work together. A page load uses a little CPU and RAM for a fraction of a second, then frees it for the next visitor. Well-built sites cycle through this so quickly that you never come close to your ceiling.
