Common migration problems and fixes
Migrations to Dirham A Day are managed by our team and usually go smoothly, but it helps to know the handful of issues that can crop up after any hosting move - and how they are resolved.
- Missing padlock / SSL warning. The certificate simply needs re-issuing on our platform. This is quick and we handle it - see our article on re-issuing SSL.
- "Mixed content" warnings. A secure page is still calling an insecure resource (often a hard-coded http image or script). We help update these so the padlock stays clean.
- Database connection error. The site's configuration needs to point to the database on our platform. Our managed migration sets this correctly; if you see it, tell us and we fix it.
- Email not arriving yet. Around the mail cutover, MX changes take a little time to spread. We keep old mailboxes active during this window so nothing is lost.
- Old content showing. Usually a caching issue - clearing your browser cache and the site's cache resolves it.
- A broken link or missing image. Occasionally a path needs adjusting after a move; these are simple fixes.
The reassuring news is that because we keep your old hosting active as a safety net and let you test before switching, most issues are caught and fixed before your visitors ever see them.
If you notice anything odd after your move, do not struggle with it - it is almost always a small, known fix. Send us the details and our 24/7 UAE-based team will resolve it quickly. WhatsApp +971 58 553 6767 or support@dirhamaday.ae.
