Backup size and limits
The size of your backups depends on how much data your account holds - your website files, databases and email all count toward it. A small brochure site produces tiny backups; a large media library or a busy online shop with years of orders produces much bigger ones.
For most customers this is nothing to think about - DirhamVault simply backs up your account on schedule. But if your account grows very large, backup size becomes worth managing, because bigger backups take longer to create, download and restore, and use more storage.
Practical ways to keep backups a sensible size:
- Clear out clutter. Remove old files, unused uploads, stale exports and huge log files you do not need.
- Tidy your database. Delete spam, old revisions and expired sessions that quietly bloat it.
- Exclude disposable data such as large cache folders that regenerate anyway (see our article on excluding files - but only exclude what you are sure you do not need).
- Watch your disk usage in the DirhamHost panel; backup size roughly tracks how much data you store.
If your site is legitimately large - a big shop or media-heavy site - that is normal, and the answer is usually simply to be on a plan sized for it. Bigger plans provide more room, and our team can advise on the right fit.
