Backing up your WordPress site
Your WordPress site is made of two parts: the files (themes, plugins, uploads and core) and the database (your posts, pages, settings and comments). A complete WordPress backup needs both - and DirhamVault captures them together automatically.
Because DirhamVault runs scheduled, off-site backups of your whole account, your WordPress site is already being protected without any plugins or configuration. You can restore the entire site, or just the files, or just the database, from the DirhamHost panel whenever you need to.
Good WordPress backup habits:
- Before updating core, a theme or plugins, take an on-demand backup so you have a restore point from that exact moment.
- If an update breaks your site, restore the whole account to before the update - or, if you know it was one plugin, restore just the affected files.
- If your content is damaged but files are fine (for example after a bad import), a database-only restore brings back your posts and settings without touching themes or plugins.
A note on WordPress backup plugins: you can use one if you like, but you do not need to rely on it - DirhamVault's off-site backups are safer than backups a plugin stores on the same server as your site, because they survive even a serious server problem. Running heavy backup plugins can also add to your resource usage, so many customers happily let DirhamVault handle it.
