Backing up your email
Your Dirham A Day mail is stored on backed-up NVMe servers, but keeping your own copy of important email is wise - especially before changing providers or deleting a mailbox. There are a few good methods.
Using IMAP in a desktop client: add the mailbox to Outlook, Apple Mail or Thunderbird via IMAP, let it download all folders, then export to a local file:
- Outlook: File > Open & Export > Import/Export > Export to a file (.pst).
- Thunderbird: install the ImportExportTools NG add-on to export folders to Mbox/EML.
From the panel: your account-level backups include email data, so a full backup captures your mailboxes. You can also download individual messages from Omnio webmail.
Best practice:
- Back up before you delete a mailbox or migrate to a new host.
- Store the export somewhere off the server - your computer or cloud storage.
- For compliance, keep dated archives of key correspondence.
Because we use IMAP, your mail already syncs to every device, giving natural redundancy. For automated, ongoing archiving of a whole team's mail, ask us about the best approach. Need help exporting a large mailbox? Our 24/7 UAE team can guide you - WhatsApp +971 58 553 6767.
