Updating DNS after a website migration

When you move your website to a new server or to Dirham A Day, you need to update DNS so visitors reach the new location. Doing this smoothly avoids downtime.

Recommended steps:

  1. Before switching, lower your DNS TTL a day ahead so changes propagate faster.
  2. Confirm the new site works on the new server first.
  3. Update the A record (or nameservers) to point to the new hosting IP.
  4. Update MX and other records if your email is moving too.
  5. Keep the old server live for a day or two while DNS propagates.

All of this is done in your client area. If you would like us to handle the migration and DNS cutover for you, contact our team on WhatsApp +971 58 553 6767 or support@dirhamaday.ae.
