Pointing a domain to a VPS or external app

You can point your domain to a VPS, a cloud server, or an external application (such as a hosted store or site builder) using DNS records.

The service you are connecting to will give you either an IP address or a hostname. In the DNS manager in your client area:

• If you have an IP address, add an A record pointing your domain (or subdomain) to it.
• If you have a hostname, add a CNAME record pointing to it (use a subdomain, as the root domain needs an A record).
