Glue records and custom nameservers

Glue records are needed when you want to run your own custom nameservers on a domain — for example ns1.yourbusiness.ae. A glue record links that nameserver name to its IP address at the registry level, preventing a lookup loop.

Without glue, the internet would not know the IP of a nameserver that lives on the same domain it serves. Glue records solve this by registering the name and IP together.

Glue records are most relevant to resellers and advanced users running their own DNS or a DirhamHost server. You can register them in your client area or via your registrar.

Setting up custom nameservers can be fiddly, so if you are creating them for the first time, contact our team on WhatsApp +971 58 553 6767 or support@dirhamaday.ae and we will walk you through it.
