Why is my website slow, and how do I speed it up?
A slow site frustrates visitors and hurts SEO. Our NVMe servers are fast, so slowness usually comes from the site itself. Here is how to diagnose and improve it.
Find the cause: run your site through a speed tool (such as PageSpeed Insights or GTmetrix). It shows what is slow, large images, too many scripts, slow server response, or render-blocking resources.
Common fixes:
- Enable caching. For WordPress, use a caching plugin (WP Super Cache, W3 Total Cache, LiteSpeed Cache). This is often the single biggest improvement.
- Optimise images. Compress and correctly size them; use modern formats like WebP.
- Reduce plugins. Remove unused or heavy plugins; each adds load.
- Use a current PHP version (MultiPHP Manager at my.dirhamaday.ae); newer PHP is significantly faster.
- Add a CDN such as Cloudflare to serve content closer to visitors.
- Minify and combine CSS/JavaScript.
Also check you are not hitting your plan's resource limits (DirhamGuard), which can throttle a busy or inefficient site.
If your site is slow even after optimising, contact our 24/7 team on WhatsApp +971 58 553 6767 or support@dirhamaday.ae. We can check server-side timing and resource usage, and advise whether a plan upgrade would help.
