Domain locking: protecting against unwanted transfers
Domain locking (registrar lock) is a security feature that prevents your domain from being transferred to another registrar without your approval. It is a simple but important protection against unauthorised transfers and domain hijacking.
By default, we keep eligible domains locked. You can view and change the lock status from the domain settings in your client area.
- Keep the lock on for everyday protection.
- Turn it off only when you intend to transfer the domain away.
Remember to re-enable the lock after any legitimate transfer. Some extensions, including .ae, manage locking through registry rules. If you are unsure whether your domain is locked, contact our team on WhatsApp +971 58 553 6767 or support@dirhamaday.ae.
Because domain hijacking usually relies on an unnoticed transfer, keeping the lock on is one of the simplest and most effective protections you can apply. It costs nothing and does not affect how your website or email works day to day. The only time you need to lift it is for a genuine transfer that you have initiated yourself, and you should switch it back on as soon as that transfer is complete.
