How do I run a ClamAV malware scan?

ClamAV is the open-source antivirus engine running on Dirham A Day servers. Alongside our automated background scanning, you can run an on-demand scan of your own account to check for infected files.

To run a scan from the DirhamHost control panel:

1. Log in from my.dirhamaday.ae.
2. Open the Virus Scanner tool.
3. Choose what to scan, typically your home directory, web space (public files), or mail.
4. Start the scan and wait for the report.

If ClamAV finds anything, it lists the affected files so you can review and remove or quarantine them. Be careful deleting files you do not recognise inside an application like WordPress; when in doubt, ask us first.

To keep infections away in the first place:

• Keep all software, plugins and themes updated.
• Use strong passwords and two-factor authentication.
• Remove unused plugins, themes and old files.
