Choosing an operating system for your VPS

When you deploy a VPS, you choose the operating system (OS) it runs. The OS is the foundation everything else is installed on, so it is worth picking one you are comfortable with.

Most VPS hosting uses a Linux distribution, popular choices being Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux or Rocky Linux. These are stable, secure, well-documented and free, which makes them the standard choice for websites and apps.

A few pointers:

You select the OS at order time, and you can rebuild the VPS with a different OS later if your needs change. See the options at my.dirhamaday.ae. Unsure which to pick? Our UAE team can advise on WhatsApp at +971 58 553 6767.
