How to set up WordPress Multisite

WordPress Multisite lets you run several websites from one WordPress installation — handy if you manage multiple brands or branches. It is an advanced feature, so plan before enabling it.

  1. Back up your site first.
  2. Add define('WP_ALLOW_MULTISITE', true); to wp-config.php via the DirhamHost File Manager.
  3. Go to Tools → Network Setup, choose sub-domains or sub-directories, and click Install.
  4. Add the extra lines WordPress gives you to wp-config.php and .htaccess, then log back in.

You now have a Network Admin area to add sites, themes and plugins across the network. If you chose sub-domains, you will need a wildcard DNS record and a wildcard SSL — our team can set these up for you.

Multisite is powerful but shares one database, so a problem can affect every site. For most small businesses, separate installs are simpler to manage. If you are sure Multisite suits you, contact our UAE team on WhatsApp +971 58 553 6767 and we will help configure DNS and SSL correctly.

Still need a hand? Our UAE-based team is here 24/7.
